Maude Kerns Art Center is pleased to present “Not Just: A World Collage Day Exhibition,” a juried show in honor of World Collage Day (May 13), featuring work by 40 local, regional, and national collage artists, as well as the collage art of 11 invited international artists from nine different countries, including Greece, Germany, Brazil, France, Spain, Columbia, Mexico, Argentina, and Canada. Initiated by Kolaj Magazine in 2018, World Collage Day is an annual international celebration of collage. “Not Just: A World Collage Day Exhibition” was juried by Beth I. Robinson and Michael James. The exhibit is on display through Friday, June 9.
Mediums vary widely, including acrylic, paper, paper collage, puzzle montage, assemblage, intaglio, found objects, natural pigments, cyanotype, textile, applique, embroidery, ceramics, kiln-cast glass, musical instrument parts, blackout poetry, ink, monoprint, aerosol paint, magazine clippings, and mixed media.
A variety of activities are planned at the Art Center to celebrate World Collage Day on Saturday, May 13. These include special family workshops, a collage-making open studio, and an exhibit jurors talk.
